Gasgoo Munich-On July 24 that EVE Energy issued a statement noting LG Energy Solution and its subsidiaries had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the company in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on July 21 local time. Concurrently, the Korean battery maker petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to launch a Section 337 investigation. As of the announcement's release, EVE Energy stated it had not yet received formal legal documents regarding the cases.
According to media reports, the litigation involves five patents: four related to cylindrical batteries and one concerning battery separators. Notably, LG Energy Solution has cast a wide net, naming not only the cell manufacturer EVE Energy as a defendant but also downstream power tool clients that purchase EVE cells and import them into the U.S. as respondents in the ITC action.
In its statement, EVE Energy emphasized its deep respect for intellectual property and its determination to defend its own innovations. The company reiterated that independent technological development remains the cornerstone of its growth strategy.

To date, EVE Energy has filed more than 17,000 global patent applications, building a comprehensive IP moat across the entire battery supply chain. In the cylindrical battery sector specifically, the company has persisted in original R&D, accumulating over 3,000 patent applications for proprietary innovations.
Following a thorough technical traceability and patent comparison analysis, EVE Energy concluded that it has not infringed on the patent rights cited in the dispute.
To counter the allegations, EVE Energy is organizing its case materials and assembling a specialized legal team to mount a vigorous defense. The company intends to follow U.S. legal procedures and leverage all available legal means to safeguard its legitimate rights.
EVE Energy stressed that it advocates for industry dialogue grounded in objective facts, aiming to foster fair and orderly competition as well as healthy technological advancement in the lithium battery sector. The company said it will monitor the case closely and disclose developments in accordance with regulatory requirements.
