Chinese auto maker FAW Car Co. said Sunday its first-half net profit rose 5.8% from the same period a year earlier on sales growth.
FAW Car said its net profit for the six months ended June 30 was CNY535.28 million ($78.3 million), up from CNY505.77 million a year earlier.
Revenue rose to CNY11.63 billion, from CNY10.43 billion.
The company said it sold more than 70,000 vehicles in the January-June period. It said previously it sold around 59,300 vehicles in the first half of 2008.
FAW Car, a unit of China FAW Group Corp., makes Besturn, Hongqi, Mazda 6 and Wagon vehicles. It is headquartered in Changchun, Jilin province.
