Fiat to recall 42,935 Viaggios in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Nov 18)– Recently, GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Co.,Ltd(GFC) has reported its plan to recall totally 42,935 Viaggios manufactured during August 26th, 2012 to December 19th, 2013 due to issues with gearshift system, starting this 20th, to AQSIQ, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, Guarantine of the People’s Republic of China, in accordance with the Regulation on the Administration of Recall of Defective Auto Products.

This recall is about an overlong component in the defective Viaggios’s gear lever. This component, due to its inappropriate length, may lead to disconnection with the shift knob in extreme cases, and further disable the lock-up function of the gear lever, slowing down the vehicle and posing safety hazards for the occupants.

GFC dealers will contact the owners of affected cars to replace the defective part with an improved shift knob, free of charge.
