Figure AI is a U.S. humanoid robotics startup founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock, who previously established the electric flying taxi company Archer Aviation. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, the company focuses on developing general-purpose humanoid robots.
Since its inception, Figure AI has concentrated on general-purpose robotics, securing capital at a rapid pace. In May 2023, the company closed a $70 million Series A round led by Parkway Venture Capital. Just two months later, it added $9 million in a Series A+ round featuring investors like Intel Capital. Then, in February 2024, Figure AI raised approximately $675 million in a Series B round that valued the company at $2.6 billion, with backing from Microsoft, Nvidia, and an Amazon fund.
Figure AI unveiled its first humanoid robot, Figure 01, in March 2023. The company formally launched the third-generation Figure 03 in May 2025. By June 2025, Figure AI had formed a strategic partnership with Lingyi iTech, becoming one of 16 robotics brands to sign a joint agreement. This collaboration leverages a "chain leader + ecosystem partner" model to integrate resources across the "core components—modules—complete machine" supply chain, while also complementing the technical capabilities of the National Robotics Innovation Center.
