Shanghai, November 2 (Gasgoo.com) To meet the demand of increasing business and the future joint venture with Daimler, Foton Motor is to invest 1.3 billion to build its second plant in Beijing, China, the Beijing News today.
This new plant will boost the output of Foton heavy trucks to over 100.000 units. At the same time, the fourth version of its Auman product is in the process of R&D and will be on stream later in the new second plant.
This step of Foton differs from its previous plan to build up the second plant in Nanhai, Guangzhou. Foton said that the Bohai Area will be the main economic zone in 5 or 10 years and takes advantage of abundant resources like nonferrous metal and coal.
The new plant will facilitate the transportation and the sharing of management resources with the first plant in Beijing. The Nanhai plant will be restructured to produce medium- and large-size buses.
