Gasgoo Munich- Fujian province has released detailed rules for its 2026 car trade-in subsidy program, offering individual consumers payouts of up to 20,000 yuan. The policy, issued by the provincial commerce department and eight other agencies on February 25, remains in effect through December 31, 2026. It covers purchases made via scrapping old vehicles or trading them in.

Subsidies are strictly for individual consumers, who must be the registered owner of both the old and new vehicles. To qualify, the old vehicle must have been registered in the applicant's name before January 8, 2025, and cannot have been transferred between that date and its deregistration. Each person is limited to a single subsidy during the policy period.
Under the scrapping program, consumers can claim a one-time subsidy in 2026 if they junk passenger vehicles registered before specific cutoffs—gasoline cars before June 30, 2013; diesel and other fuel cars before June 30, 2015; or new-energy vehicles (NEVs) before December 31, 2019. They must then purchase a new NEV listed in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's tax-exemption catalog" NEV or a fuel vehicle with 2.0-liter displacement or lower. The purchase must be invoiced and registered within Fujian province. Notably, scrapping an NEV to buy a fuel vehicle does not qualify.
Subsidies are calculated as a percentage of the new car's price: 12% for NEVs, capped at 20,000 yuan, and 10% for fuel vehicles with 2.0-liter engines or smaller, capped at 15,000 yuan.
For trade-ins, eligible consumers in 2026 can transfer ownership of an existing vehicle and purchase a new NEV or a fuel vehicle with 2.0-liter displacement or lower. As with the scrapping route, the new NEV must appear in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's tax-exemption catalog" NEV, and the transaction must be processed with a sales invoice and registration certificate issued in Fujian.
The trade-in subsidies are set at 8% of the new vehicle price for NEVs, capped at 15,000 yuan, and 6% for fuel vehicles, capped at 13,000 yuan. Again, the subsidy is limited to one per consumer.
