GAC said it views the United Kingdom as a critical pillar of its European growth strategy, citing the country's mature automotive ecosystem, advanced consumer market and accelerating transition toward electrified mobility. The UK operation is expected to play an important role in supporting GAC's long-term ambition of achieving annual overseas sales of one million vehicles by 2030.
During the launch event, Fady Jameel, Chairman of ALJ International, outlined the long-term vision for the joint venture established with GAC. He emphasized a commitment to building a sustainable and enduring presence in the UK market rather than pursuing short-term growth.
According to Jameel, the partnership plans to support AION UK's development through continued investment, access to global resources and the empowerment of a locally focused management team. The goal is to establish a business capable of delivering steady and sustainable growth in the years ahead.
The event also marked the official UK debut of the AION V. To strengthen its appeal among British consumers, GAC announced a comprehensive ownership package known as "AION Great 8" for all AION V vehicles sold in the country.
The package covers eight major ownership services, including vehicle warranty protection, scheduled maintenance, roadside assistance and support related to the UK's MOT vehicle inspection requirements. The program is designed to provide up to eight years of ownership support and after-sales coverage.
Recognizing the UK's long-established automotive heritage and demanding consumer expectations, GAC highlighted several product and technology pillars it believes will help the brand compete in the market.
The company said future products destined for Europe are being engineered to meet the requirements of the five-star Euro NCAP crash-safety benchmark from the earliest stages of development, reflecting its focus on safety as a core competitive advantage.
GAC also plans to introduce a diversified portfolio of electrified vehicles tailored to European demand, including battery-electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and conventional hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
On the technology front, the automaker is emphasizing connected-car capabilities through advanced digital cockpit systems featuring multilingual interfaces, voice interaction, connected navigation services and over-the-air software updates.
Data security and regulatory compliance were also highlighted as key priorities. GAC said it has developed a comprehensive information-protection framework designed to safeguard user privacy and vehicle data while meeting the requirements of major overseas markets.
