Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 3) - Guangzhou Automobile (GAC), in association with its joint ventures, including Guangqi Honda and Guangqi Toyota, announced that they will begin research on a vehicle logistics platform, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported today.
"We hope to have our own unique technology and products, as well as an efficient supply line," Huang Xiangdong, deputy manager of GAC Group and head of Guangzhou Automobile's research department, said at the recently concluded Auto Shanghai 2011. The new logistics platform is a step to fulfilling those goals. The system will take advantage of so-called "Telem atic" technology.
However, Mr. Huang affirmed his commitment to new vehicle development, saying that the logistics platform was not the end goal for GAC.
