Gasgoo Munich-On April 1, Gasgoo learned that GAC Toyota released its first-quarter retail sales figures. From January through March, cumulative sales reached 171,584 units, marking a year-on-year gain. March alone delivered 66,127 units, a 19.3% surge that underscores the automaker’s resilience even as competition in China’s auto market intensifies.
A broad rally across core models underpinned the growth. The Camry moved 45,667 units in the first quarter, up 7%, securing its spot among the top tier in the mid-size sedan segment. The Highlander sold 19,256 units — a 25% jump — reinforcing its benchmark status in the large SUV market. Meanwhile, the Sienna posted 21,957 units, a 10% rise, maintaining steady competitiveness in the high-end family MPV segment.

In the new-energy sector, the bZ3X shifted 16,865 units in the first quarter, firmly placing it among the leaders in joint-venture EV models. Official data shows the model racked up over 10,000 orders within an hour of launch, with cumulative firm bookings surpassing that mark, making it a standout in the joint-venture pure-electric market.
The push toward intelligent electrification emerged as the primary engine for GAC Toyota’s first-quarter growth. Sales of intelligent hybrid models climbed 12% to 95,828 units, accounting for a record 56% of total volume. That shift signals the steady execution of GAC Toyota’s strategy to balance internal combustion and electric power, with hybrid technology cementing its role as a key differentiator.
Separately, the all-electric bZ7, which launched in March, began deliveries immediately with stock now fully available at dealerships. The arrival further rounds out the brand’s new-energy portfolio, setting the stage for continued sales momentum.
Even as the domestic market sags and some joint-venture rivals see sales slip, GAC Toyota has optimized both its volume and product mix through a premium lineup and smart-tech upgrades. With models like the bZ7 gaining traction and hybrid technology continuing to spread, there is still room for the automaker to lift its game heading into 2026.
