DENZA enters European market with Z9GT and D9
On April 8, DENZA, the premium new energy vehicle brand under BYD Group, officially launched its European debut at the Palais Garnier in Paris. The brand unveiled its flagship models, the DENZA Z9GT and DENZA D9, marking a significant step in its global expansion strategy.
DENZA introduced three models to the European market: the Z9GT DM-i Super Hybrid, the Z9GT pure electric version, and the D9 DM-i. As the brand's flagship shooting brake, the Z9GT is built on the e³ (Yi San Fang) technology platform and offers both battery electric and super hybrid powertrains. The pure electric version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. Equipped with independent rear-wheel steering, it enables advanced maneuvers such as compass turns and crab walking in tight spaces.
The D9 DM-i, a flagship MPV, delivers a pure electric range of 210 km and a combined range of 950 km with a full tank and full charge, balancing performance with everyday practicality for premium mobility scenarios.
At the event, BYD also presented its fast-charging technology for the first time in Europe. Based on the second-generation Blade Battery, the technology significantly improves low-temperature charging performance and enhances overall convenience for electric mobility.
Pony.ai launches Europe's first commercial Robotaxi service in Croatia
On April 8, Pony.ai, in partnership with autonomous mobility service provider Verne and global ride-hailing platform Uber, officially launched a commercial Robotaxi service in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. This marks the first publicly available commercial Robotaxi service in Europe.
From launch, residents in Zagreb can book rides via the Verne app, with integration into the Uber app to follow, further expanding service accessibility.
In its initial phase, the service covers approximately 90 square kilometers, including central Zagreb and Zagreb Airport, and operates daily from 7:00 to 21:00. Coverage is expected to expand citywide in the future.
Notably, the service went live just two weeks after the partnership was announced, highlighting Pony.ai's capability in rapid deployment and scalable autonomous driving solutions. Previously, Pony.ai achieved break-even at the unit economics level for its seventh-generation Robotaxi fleet in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Guangzhou Public Transport Group, CATL sign strategic cooperation agreement
Recently, Guangzhou Public Transport Group and CATL signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Ningde, Fujian Province.
The partnership will focus on battery supply and maintenance, recycling and reuse, battery swapping networks, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) solutions, electric vessels, and the low-altitude economy. CATL will continue to supply high-safety, long-lifespan battery products while co-developing a full lifecycle battery management system, from deployment to retirement.
Both parties will jointly plan a citywide battery swapping network for taxis in Guangzhou, providing diversified energy replenishment solutions. They will also explore emerging sectors such as electric vessels and low-altitude mobility.
Since 2025, CATL has supplied 1,500 electric buses to Guangzhou Public Transport Group, including 424 hydrogen fuel cell buses, and delivered power systems for three electric vessels. Together, the two group have also constructed six battery swapping stations.
