Gasgoo Daily presents a selection of the latest developments from China's automotive industry. Here are the key stories in this edition.

1. Chery Selects Bosch ADAS Technology for Six New Models in Europe

Chery Automobile and Bosch have signed a project agreement in Paris, France, for Chery's first localized advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) program in Europe. The technology will be deployed on six new Chery models, supporting the automaker's efforts to strengthen its localized presence in the European market.

The project covers Bosch's fourth-generation multi-purpose camera (MPC4) and an integrated driving-and-parking system based on the camera. Mass production is scheduled to begin in 2028, with total output projected to exceed 800,000 units over five years. Bosch's MPC4 camera series has secured nominations covering more than 50 vehicle models, with total orders exceeding 10 million units.

Bosch is also expanding the international application of its advanced driver assistance technologies. Its one-stage advanced driver assistance solution has completed testing and validation in Germany, France, and Japan. The company plans to complete road-adaptation validation in North America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and multiple EU markets by the end of 2026, drawing on its localized engineering, testing, and regulatory certification capabilities.

2. Pony.ai Expands Robotaxi Operations to Manchester, UK

On October 14, Pony.ai, Uber, and Verne announced that Pony.ai's seventh-generation Robotaxi had officially arrived in Manchester, UK, where vehicle testing was underway. The announcement came less than a week after the companies announced their London project on October 8, marking another step in Pony.ai's European expansion.

Manchester, the UK's second-largest metropolitan area and a major economic and transportation hub in northern England, offers a range of operating scenarios, including high-density short-distance travel and suburban connectivity. Together with London, the deployment establishes a two-city presence across the UK's core economic corridor, allowing Pony.ai to test its technology in different urban environments and build experience for further expansion.

Pony.ai's partnership model assigns autonomous driving technology to Pony.ai, local fleet operations to Verne, and passenger connections to Uber's global network. The model was previously used in Zagreb, Croatia, where Pony.ai launched Europe's first commercial Robotaxi service. Following the launch of commercial operations there in April 2026, the company began fully driverless passenger-carrying tests five months later. Pony.ai's plan to deploy more than 2,000 Robotaxis across five European cities is gradually being implemented, while the company is also expanding in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and South Korea.

3. XPENG Opens Intelligent Vehicle Solutions Business to Global Partners

On October 13, during the 2026 Paris Motor Show, He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPENG, introduced the company's intelligent vehicle solutions business at the Paris Automotive Summit, where he was the only invited CEO of a Chinese automaker. Operating under the name XPENG AI ENGINEERING, the business will open intelligent vehicle technology cooperation to global partners, offering integrated capabilities spanning vehicle development, manufacturing, and after-sales services.

The commercial solutions cover three core areas: vehicle platforms, including vehicle platform architecture and electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture; modular technologies, including intelligent driving, AI BOX, chips, batteries, and electric drive systems; and supporting toolchains, including remote XCP calibration, end-of-line (EOL) testing, and AI diagnostics. Beyond intelligent vehicles, XPENG will also open its broader Physical AI ecosystem solutions to global partners, covering humanoid robots, Robotaxi, flying cars, Turing AI chips, and foundation models for the physical world.

He Xiaopeng also disclosed that XPENG's Robotaxi business was in in-depth discussions with several leading European mobility platforms, with related partnership developments expected to be announced in the near future. The company said its approach is to share technology with global partners, help them develop their own technical capabilities, and support independent innovation through deeper collaboration.
