Shanghai, June 17 (Gasgoo.com) Great Wall Motor has started making plans for construction of its second plant in the south Baoding, a prefecture-level city in Hebei province, China while its Tianjin plant is still under construction, Jia Yaquan, sales manager for the company's domestic sales department, said recently.
It is reported that the first-phase construction of the Tianjin plant will be completed in March 2011, with an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles. The second phase is scheduled to be completed by 2012, which will increase the plant's annual capacity to 500,000 units and bring Great Wall's overall capacity to 1 million units.
Besides, Great Wall Motor will produce the Hover H6, the Hover SC60, the Tengyi C50 and other high-end models at the Tianjin plant, and produce the Ling'ao, the Florid, the Tengyi C30, the Hover H5, the Hover M1 and other models in the second Baoding plant.
Currently, Great Wall Motor has determined the location for the second Baoding plant, according to Jia. However, he did not reveal the exact construction date and finish date of the project.
Additionally, Great Wall Motor will brand all its SUV models under Hover and all its pickups under Feng Jun in the future. It will also expand the Tengyi lineup with new sedans, such as the Tengyi C30 displayed at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show in April, the Tengyi C35 and the Tengyi C50 to be launched next year.
