Gasgoo Munich- On May 12, the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center announced via its official WeChat account that it has launched a nationwide first: the registration of "digital ID cards" for humanoid robots. The initiative ensures one code per machine, full traceability, and clear accountability.

China's humanoid robot sector is booming, with new brands and models hitting the market rapidly. Yet this surge has created a fragmentation problem: divergent technical paths and varying components have led to inconsistent software and hardware parameters, incompatible standards, and siloed data. Without unified norms, the industry struggles with product traceability, safety oversight, and data exchange.
To crack this long-standing industry challenge, the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center is pioneering the "digital ID card" system. The move guarantees a unique code for every unit, end-to-end traceability, and clearly defined liability.
Formally known as full-lifecycle identity ID certification, the "digital ID card" acts like a social security number for robots — a unique identifier for each device. Composed of four parts — a national code, enterprise code, product model number, and serial number — it captures critical data including the manufacturer, hardware specifications, intelligence level, and factory registration details.
As of May 11, the center has completed filing and coding tests for the first batch of enterprises and products with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Humanoid Robot and Embodied Intelligence Standards Committee. Once the official standard is released, the robots can be formally numbered and issued their "digital ID cards" — effectively giving them a registered household status.
