Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 18) - Jianghuai Automobile announced that it has sent a new recall order to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, China Business News reported today. The recall will target Tongyue sedans manufactured before 2012. However, the exact number of Tongyue sedans that JAC will recall has not been announced yet.

Several owners of Tongyue sedans (pictured) have complained that the chassis and bodies of their vehicles have rusted and corroded within a year of purchase. According to representatives from JAC, the problem is a manufacturing defect caused by poor quality paintwork. The issue has already been resolved, and no longer exists in Tongyue sedans made after 2011.

According to statistics, a total of 119,271 Tongyue sedans were produced before 2012. However, JAC representatives emphasized not all the vehicles manufactured before 2012 are affected by the problem. Among the vehicles manufactured, JAC has discovered and repaired 6,579 units so far.

JAC sold a total of 448,800 vehicles in 2012, 3.78 percent less than the amount it sold the year before. The manufacturer has sold 87,042 vehicles over the first two months of this year.
