Gasgoo Munich- At the 2026 China Auto Forum, JAC's Li Weihua warned that while penetration rates for new-energy commercial vehicles keep climbing, the industry's low-price price war is intensifying. Since commercial vehicles are capital assets, a breakdown means immediate downtime and operational risk. Focusing solely on price often sacrifices long-term reliability, making comprehensive full-chain quality control the essential barrier for automakers to break through the competition.
Bolstered by policy support, the transition to new-energy commercial vehicles is accelerating. Domestic penetration hit 33.7% in the first half of 2026, with forecasts suggesting it could top 50% by 2030. Unlike passenger cars, commercial vehicles operate in harsh conditions with high intensity, placing extreme demands on the durability of battery, motor, and electric control systems, as well as overall vehicle safety. In this environment, the negative impact of any quality shortcomings is significantly amplified.

JAC is applying the mature quality control experience derived from its MAEXTRO project across its new-energy commercial vehicle division. Relying on the Xingdian No. 1 dedicated pure-electric platform, the company has conducted extreme durability testing across tens of thousands of kilometers in frigid and mountainous regions. Its models have secured the world's first commercial vehicle six-dimensional electric safety system certification, while simultaneously advancing both fast-charging and battery-swapping solutions.
On the supply chain front, JAC has formed a quality alliance with more than 200 core suppliers, moving quality control upstream to the component design phase and establishing an atomic-level full-chain traceability system. In manufacturing, the company has built flexible new-energy production lines that integrate AI visual inspection and digital management platforms to enable risk warnings throughout the production process. The service model is transforming as well: leveraging Internet of Vehicles data to build a predictive service platform, shifting from passive repairs to active warnings. Supported by a network of more than 1,600 service outlets nationwide, the initiative aims to reduce downtime risks for users.
Li Weihua called on the industry to abandon the short-term mindset of sacrificing quality for low prices. Looking ahead, JAC will develop both pure-electric and hydrogen fuel routes, refining capabilities in skateboard chassis and remote OTA updates. The company plans to deepen supply chain collaboration to build a stable, low-carbon, and sustainable ecosystem for new-energy commercial vehicles.
