Gasgoo Munich- Li Auto officially entered the Macao market of China on June 26, 2026, marking its first expansion into Hong Kong and Macao after building a strong presence in the Chinese Mainland. Partnering with Hong Yue Group, the automaker opened its first retail center in Macao. To support local regulatory requirements and the cross-border travel habits of users in Hong Kong and Macao, Li Auto has completed a series of localized upgrades covering vehicle glazing, mobile connectivity, and intelligent cockpit functions. The move represents a significant milestone in the company's broader global expansion strategy.

Macao serves as an important gateway linking the Chinese Mainland with international markets and occupies a strategic position within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Li Auto said its entry into the city forms a key part of its international growth strategy and is expected to strengthen the brand's presence across Hong Kong, Macao and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The new retail center enables local consumers to experience the Li i6 and Li i8 firsthand while providing an integrated ownership journey that includes vehicle purchases, deliveries and after-sales support. According to the company, systematic product localization has been carried out to ensure customers in Macao receive the same level of product performance and service quality as users in the Chinese Mainland, despite differences in regulations and operating environments.

One of the key localization efforts addresses Macao's regulations governing automotive glass light transmittance. Li Auto collaborated with leading automotive glass supplier Fuyao Glass to develop an original-equipment laminated, non-privacy glass solution that complies with local requirements. The company said the new glazing maintains the vehicle's acoustic comfort, safety performance and thermal insulation while meeting regulatory standards. The initiative reflects Li Auto's approach of preserving a consistent global product standard while adapting to local market requirements.

Recognizing that many vehicle owners regularly travel between Hong Kong, Macao and the Chinese Mainland, Li Auto has also localized its communications, navigation and intelligent cockpit systems. The company has enabled seamless navigation across the three regions and introduced flexible connectivity options tailored to different vehicle models. Certain models support dual-SIM communication, helping users maintain connectivity during cross-border travel. The international version of the smart cockpit also supports localized applications such as Apple CarPlay and Spotify, enhancing the everyday user experience. Meanwhile, Li Auto is working with industry partners on cross-border connected vehicle solutions designed to further improve in-car connectivity for Hong Kong and Macao users traveling in the Chinese Mainland.

The launch in Macao marks another milestone in Li Auto's international ambitions and signals a new phase in the company's global development. Looking ahead, the automaker said it will continue to prioritize customer value while leveraging its vehicle technologies and product capabilities to deliver safe, comfortable and intelligent electric mobility solutions to a broader global customer base.

With operations now underway in Macao, Li Auto has taken another step toward expanding its international footprint. Beyond giving local consumers direct access to the company's products and services, the new retail center strengthens Li Auto's service network across the Greater Bay Area. The experience gained through the Macao launch is also expected to support the automaker's future expansion into additional overseas markets.
