Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 16) - A ceremony commemorating Lotus Cars official entrance into China was held in Beijing yesterday. CEO Dany Bahar personally attended the event, auto.sohu.com reported.

During the event, Mr. Bahar bestowed Zhang Lichen, chosen to lead Lotus China, with a plaque certifying the new company's official role as Lotus' supplier in China. Mr. Bahar was upbeat during the entire event, saying that Lotus' entry into China goes a long way in helping the manufacturer to complete its global marketing strategy. He added that Lotus China would uphold Lotus founder Colin Chapman's principle of developing light and fuel-efficient cars.

China may be very close to seeing domestic sales of Lotus' hallmark models: the Elise, Evora and Exige. "[We look forward to] bringing success to Lotus' models," Mr. Zhang said. "We have full confidence that the Lotus brand will stand out in China," he added.
