Marching Towards Passenger Vehicle Market, Jiangling sets Target at 1m units

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 6th)– Jiangling launched two new SUV models of Yusheng S350 and Yusheng S330 on 2016 Beijing Auto Show. Meanwhile, the new management team, including Chairman of the Board Qiu Tiangao, President Fan Xin and First Executive Vice President Xiong Chunying, all made their first official public appearance.

New Director Sets 1m unit Target

Qiu Tiangao said, Jiangling will made future plans from three aspects. “Firstly, further deepen strategic cooperation with Ford to improve our company's application capability. Secondly, foster our strengths in commercial vehicle market and make breakthroughs in the passenger vehicle area to forge three pillar brands of JMC, Yusheng and Ford. Finally, Jiangling has a long-term target of producing and selling more than one million units vehicles.”

In some sense, the development of Jiangling is a story of cooperation between Jiangling and Ford. In fact, their 20-year cooperation has benefited both greatly and will give more supports to Jiangling’s new target.

A Difficult way to Enter into Passenger Vehicle Market

It’s easy to see that SUVs will burden great pressure in the process of achieving “1m” target. However, data in Jiangling’s released February 2016 Express Performance shows that Yusheng SUV has a sales volume of only 600 units, decreasing 71.66% from last year. Considering H6 and other hotspot models have been forced to drop prices to cope with the fierce competition, it’s not hard to conclude that how much pressure Yusheng will face.

However, Fan Xin said Jiangling has a clear plan for its future development. “Beginning from Yusheng S350, Jiangling has several years’ experience of producing SUVs. But 2016 will be a new beginning. Cooperation with Ford in 2015 has brought high-end SUV product Everest into China. Yusheng S330 will now focus into the compact SUV market.”

Qiu Tiangao also expresses his ideas on Jiangling’s future. “Now Jiangling is focusing on the changes of product structure, improvement of operation efficiency and optimization of costs. I believe it will not take long for Jiangling to keep an effective growth in both commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle market.”
