Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 30) - The Ministry of Commerce invited 18 of the country's major automobile manufacturers to participate in the fifth China International Auto Parts Exhibition in Beijing last week. FAW, Dongfeng, SAIC, Changan, BAIC, CNHTC, Great Wall and Chery were among the industries invited to participate in discussions on technology, research and purchasing of auto parts.

The key goal behind the China International Auto Parts Exhibition (CIAPE) summit is to find solutions to increase the globalization and specialization of the country's aftermarket sales industry. The CIAPE also seeks to find ways to increase the export market for auto parts.

"China has brought in pioneering technology, equipment, key auto parts and knowledge," Zhang Ji, Industry Department chief for the Ministry of Commerce said. However, Mr. Zhang added that these elements don't necessarily mean that China has the ability to independently maintain its own automobile industry.
