Gasgoo Munich- Gasgoo reported on April 16 that Pony.ai and GAC COMMERCIAL VEHICLE signed a strategic partnership agreement in Guangzhou.
As leading local enterprises in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, the two companies plan to leverage GAC COMMERCIAL VEHICLE's robust industrial ecosystem alongside Pony.ai's autonomous driving technology. By deeply integrating vehicle platforms, system integration, and operational scenarios, they aim to advance the large-scale commercialization of autonomous trucks (Robotrucks) in the region and across nationwide logistics networks. This collaboration further solidifies Pony.ai's strategic footprint for its trucking business in the Greater Bay Area.

Under the partnership, GAC COMMERCIAL VEHICLE will capitalize on its strengths in vehicle platforms and manufacturing systems to build highly reliable platforms and steer-by-wire chassis tailored for autonomous driving. Pony.ai, for its part, will leverage its advanced algorithms and system capabilities to provide a mature, efficient L4-level autonomous truck solution.
The joint Robotruck will be built on Pony.ai's fourth-generation autonomous truck system. This system fully adopts the full-redundancy design and safety standards of the company's latest Robotaxi generation. It is equipped with a fully redundant steer-by-wire chassis to ensure safe operations under all conditions. Designed with a lifespan of 20,000 hours, the trucks are capable of supporting 1 million kilometers of freight operations. Pony.ai continues to drive cost reduction and efficiency in the logistics sector, with the fourth-generation kit costing 70% less than its predecessor.
