Shanghai September 13 (Gasgoo.com) PSA Peugeot, a long-time partner of China's Dongfeng Motor, is planning to export cars made in China to Russia, said Gregoire Olivier, Peugeot-Citroen's recently appointed head of Asian operations, reports The Beijing News on Monday.

The French carmaker hopes to start selling vehicles produced at its manufacturing venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp. in other regions of Asia and Russia as early as next year, Gregoire Olivier said, adding that the company will gradually speed up vehicle export. PSA Peugeot is currently building a logistics platform in Shanghai that is expected to export in Asia from 2011.

PSA Peugeot will complete construction of its third plant in China at the end of 2010, which will give it a combined annual capacity of 400,000 units. China is now PSA Peugeot's second largest market where Dongfeng-PSA plans to sell 350,000 vehicles this year, an increase of 28.7% from a year earlier.

Eventually, the French company wants to have 8% of China's auto market, up from 3.3 % now, Gregoire Olivier said. He has therefore decided to increase the number of engineers in its R&D center in Shanghai from the current 350 to 1000.
