Because of inadequatemonitor into supply chain, British supercar manufacturer Aston Matin falls onto its face.
Because of accelerator pedal quality problem, Aston Matin announces on Feb 5 that it will recall as many as 17.5 thousand sport cars. And the company contributes the problem to some Chinese suppliers using inadequate plastic. The recall concerns with 75% cars the company made since 2008. Aston Matin says recall is because of pedal quality is unsafe. Although up to now, there is no accident contributed to pedal quality, Aston Matin still transfers pedal manufacture back to British.
According to statistics Aston Matin submitted to NHTSA, a Chinese supplier named “Shenzhen Ke Xiang Mould Tool Co Limited” using inferiorplasticinstead of adoptingDuPontplastic which shall according to the requirement. Inferior plastic is easy to crack which may trigger pedal broken and cause safety risk.
Reporter contacts relative officer of Shenzhen Ke Xiang Mould Tool Co Limited in the first time, but ZHANG Zhiang, speaker of Shenzhen Ke Xiang Mould Tool Co Limited, says that the company only owns dozens of employees, and annual income is only around 1 to 2 million Yuan. Almost all customers are domestic, no mention about the big company as Aston Matin. He says that some media asked him about the news, and some of them even want to interview his plant. Since he is still outside, as long as he back to Shenzhen, he will initial media conference to claim that the quality problem has no concern with his company.
What is strange, some cyber information shows that Shenzhen Ke Xiang Mould Tool Co Limited which is found in 2003 is a company which focuses on automobile accessories, medical suppliers, industry stuff and electronicmoulddesign and manufacture. It owns 80 employees, and has connection with several big mould suppliers and commercial companies. It has rich experience into HASCO and DME level module manufacture. The annual income of the company is around 7 to 10 million Yuan. According to the cyber information, reporter contacts a salesman. He gives reporter a number of his supervisor. But nobody answers the number.
When reporter contacts ZHANG Zhiang to confirm cyber information, he says that the salesman was an employee of Ke Xiang before, but he quitted already since last year. Go so far as to same location and company name, but different income etc., ZHANG Zhiang says he has no idea about it, and will appoint local government to figure it out.
