In new energy vehicle, SAIC sold 1.643 million NEVs in 2025, a 33.1% annual jump — a record high for the group.

The results reflect more than volume growth. They underscore SAIC's strategic resolve and innovative drive at a pivotal moment for industry transformation.

Affiliates' performance & key models

Across subsidiaries, SAIC shows a diversified trajectory: legacy joint ventures are transitioning steadily, while self-owned brands are scaling quickly — together shaping a broad, multi-segment footprint.

SAIC Volkswagen recorded 1.06 million units of retail sales in 2025. December retail reached 96,000 units, up 10.9% from November. SAIC-GM tallied 562,000 units of retail sales for the year, down 16.5% from a year earlier, yet remained profitable for five consecutive quarters. SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 1.635 million vehicles in 2025, a 6.2% increase; NEV sales hit 1 million for the first time on an annual basis, surging 31.9% year on year; overseas exports came in at 267,000 units, up 18.6%.

IM Motors' full-year sales reached 81,000 units, with monthly sales topping 10,000 for four straight months since September.

SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle posted 919,000 units of retail sales in 2025, up more than 12% year on year, with NEV retail rising 22%.

Behind those affiliate results sits a slate of key models. With strong product fundamentals and targeted positioning, they've led their respective segments.

For SAIC Volkswagen, the Passat and Tiguan families remain the two pillars in combustion models. Passat family sales neared 19,000 units in August, staying atop both the monthly and year-to-date charts for B-class ICE sedans. The Tiguan family exceeded 18,000 units in August, up 11.7% year on year.

SAIC-GM's Buick MPV lineup performed strongly in 2025, with full-year sales reaching 122,000 units, up 17%. The Buick GL8 Land Shang, launched in April 2025, topped 50,000 units in production in less than six months.

The Wuling Hongguang MINIEV family sold 436,000 units for the year, extending its run as the A00-segment NEV sales champion to 65 consecutive months; cumulative sales have surpassed 1.85 million.

IM Motors' LS6 has become the brand's sales mainstay, with 46,000 units sold in the first 11 months — 66.6% of the brand's total. During pre-sale, the LS6 logged more than 10,000 locked-in orders in just 27 minutes.

Transformation path & strategic layout

SAIC has pressed ahead with strategic transformation in recent years: the share of self-owned brands keeps rising, NEVs are scaling quickly, and international expansion is deepening — a trajectory that's now clearly in view.

In January 2025, end-market deliveries reached 353,000 vehicles, with self-owned brands contributing 206,000. Their share of group sales rose by nearly 6 percentage points from a year earlier.

By the first half of 2025, self-owned brands sold 1.304 million vehicles — up 21.1% — taking a 63.5% share of company sales, 4.6 percentage points higher than a year earlier. NEV sales reached 646,000 units, jumping 40.2% year on year.

For the full year, self-owned brands accounted for 65% of total sales, while NEV sales climbed 33.1% from 2024 — a clear signal that the share of self-owned brands is still rising.

SAIC's growth and improved mix stem from a clear strategy and sustained innovation. By advancing on three fronts — self-owned brands, NEVs, and overseas markets — the group has navigated industry upheaval with greater resilience.

On technology, SAIC continues to invest in R&D. IM Motors' "Stellar" super range-extender system, co-developed with CATL, is paired with the industry's largest mass-produced 66 kWh Super Xiaoyao MAX battery, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of 450 km and a combined range of more than 1,500 km.

In intelligence, SAIC is also making strides. SAIC-GM plans to roll out multiple new NEV models in 2025, spanning several propulsion types. SAIC Volkswagen and Audi are jointly creating a new Audi brand, adopting a hybrid "direct sales + agency" model to cover the full user lifecycle.

Internationally, SAIC's products now reach more than 170 countries and regions, with one overseas market at the 300,000-unit level (Europe) and five at the 50,000-unit level (the Americas, Middle East, Australia–New Zealand, ASEAN and South Asia).

From Anting in Shanghai to Wolfsburg in Germany, from traditional combustion models to intelligent EVs, SAIC Motor's transformation is still deepening — and that momentum won't fade soon.
