Gasgoo Munich- Gasgoo learned on April 16 that SVOLT began mass production of the "Fortress 2.0" at its Changzhou plant. Described as the world's highest-capacity plug-in hybrid battery, it will debut in an unnamed PHEV model. The battery has a rated capacity of 80kWh (1/3C), a 35.6% increase over the 59kWh previous generation, and is designed for large five- or six-seater family vehicles and off-road use. The first model equipped with the "Fortress 2.0" will debut at the Beijing Auto Show.

The "Fortress 2.0" uses a highly integrated system design, increasing volumetric efficiency and energy density by 6% compared to its predecessor. It supports peak 6C fast charging, adding over 400 km of range in 10 minutes. D-segment PHEVs equipped with this pack are expected to have a pure electric range exceeding 400 km.
Official data indicates the battery incorporates full-link redundancy across structural, thermal, and electrical safety systems. It features vibration resistance three times the national standard and side-impact capability twice the standard. It can withstand 200 hours of water immersion without leakage, four times the industry standard. The pack's torsional stiffness reaches 30,000 Nm/deg, triple the industry benchmark. For thermal safety, the cover uses an ultra-high-temperature insulation coating that resists ignition at 1,000°C. The design features the first application of nano-ceramic insulation materials, maintaining insulation for 30 minutes at extreme temperatures. In terms of electrical safety, smart fuses can cut high-voltage circuits within milliseconds.
SVOLT stated the "large-capacity PHEV" segment is expected to be the fastest-growing category between 2026 and 2028. By leading the mass production of 80kWh PHEV batteries, the company aims to gain a first-mover advantage in the high-end hybrid market.
