Gasgoo Munich- Tianqi Lithium Corporation is looking to strengthen its position downstream. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tianqi Lithium (Shehong), plans to invest 150 million yuan of its own funds to subscribe for 79,218,106 new shares in Sunwoda Power Technology Co. Ltd., according to a recent report by Gasgoo. Once the deal closes, the Shehong unit is expected to hold a 0.55% stake in Sunwoda Power.

Sunwoda Power operates as a comprehensive energy technology firm, spanning the research, development, manufacturing, and sales of battery cells, modules, battery management systems, and packs. Its portfolio touches on automotive power batteries, energy storage systems, low-altitude aircraft, embodied robots, and marine vessels. The company is also positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation technologies, including solid-state batteries and fast-charging solutions.
For Tianqi Lithium, the move reflects an effort to align with the trend of closer integration across the new energy supply chain. The lithium giant described the investment as a proactive step toward vertical integration. By using capital as a bridge, the two companies aim to strengthen the synergy between lithium resources and battery technologies, jointly expanding opportunities for industrial innovation and circular development.
