Shanghai, October 16 (Gasgoo.com) Tokai Rubber Industries has said it will substantially transfer some production of automotive hoses in North America to China as part of a restructuring plan in the wake of the recession.
The company said it will cease production of rubber and plastic hose at its plant in Ohio known as DTR-Ohio. The plant will continue to make rubber anti-vibration products. The plant at DTR Tennessee will stop making plastic hose, though rubber hose production will continue there.
Production will then be transferred to the company's plants in China, Tokai said in a press release.
Tokai is a Japanese manufacture of automobile components including anti-vibration rubber and hoses. It posted consolidated sales of 274,392 million yen in fiscal 2008. Tokai currently has six production sites in China.
