Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 14) - According to recent reports appearing in overseas media, Toyota has announced plans to expand its production capacity in Thailand. However, CEO Akio Toyoda denied speculations that the manufacturer would be transferring production from China to Thailand. According to a report appearing in the Beijing Times today, he stated that Toyota's plans in China are separate to its operations in the rest of Asia.

Mr. Toyoda (pictured) stated that Thailand is an import export market, and will be a center for sales in Southeast Asia. According to Mr. Toyoda, Thailand will play an important role in the manufacturer's export strategy. Unlike China, which Toyota regards as an independent market, Thailand will primarily be used as an export base.
