Toyota increases car supplies to U.S. dealerships

Toyota Motor Corp. plans to increase its supply of new cars to U.S. dealerships despite a possible dip in auto sales following the end of the "cash for clunkers" incentive program, according to a Japanese media report Thursday.

The Nikkei business daily cited Toyota as saying it would supply 129,000 more vehicles to U.S. dealerships in the October-December quarter than it did in the July-September period. U.S. auto sales posted the first rise in 22 months last month, largely attributed to the vehicle trade-in stimulus program, which ended in late August.
