Toyota Motor Corp.'s first-half operating loss may be narrower than forecast because of a recovery in sales and weaker yen, Nikkei English News said, without citing anyone.

The operating loss may be about 250 billion yen ($2.76 billion) for the six months ended September compared with the automaker's 400 billion yen forecast loss, the report said.

Sales for the half may be 8.3 trillion yen, about 500 billion yen more than its forecast, the Nikkei said. The Japanese company may have sold about 3.2 million vehicles, beating its target by about 200,000, the report said.

Toyota may pay a first-half dividend of 35 yen a share, the report said.
