Wen Jiabao praises new MG6

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 28) - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao paid a personaly inspection to SAIC-owned MG Motor during his visit to the UK, the Shanghai Business Daily reported today. Mr. Wen also held a conference with UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and several economic experts.

 Mr. Wen commented on the effects that the debts of some EU countries have brought to thier economies and to the global marketplace as a whole. He repeatedly stressed the importance of the value of good credit over that of gold or currency. Mr. Wen said that he hoped that Anglo-Chinese trade would develop further.

Mr. Wen personally took part in the inauguration ceremony for the new MG6, visiting the factory's manufacturing rooms and assembly line. He proclaimed that the car was a tribute to the new fusion of "English design, Chinese production and English assembly." Mr. Wen said he hoped for more cooperation of Chinese funds, labor and market with British technology and management.

MG Motor is SAIC's first brand operating overseas, being formed in 2005 as a result of an investment from the Nanjing Automobile Corporation. It was later incorporated into SAIC.
