Xiaomi SkyNomad, XCMG Group Complete Seat Rail Extreme Towing Challenge

Gasgoo Munich- On August 28, Xiaomi SkyNomad and XCMG Group released footage of an extreme towing challenge. The video shows a Xiaomi SkyNomad vehicle successfully hauling a 55-ton mining truck and an N90 Max on a wet surface—using only two tow ropes anchored to the seats. The total load hit 57.8 tons, roughly the weight of 20 N90 Max units. Even after the test, the seat rails remained fully functional.

The N90 Max, the model used in the challenge, runs on a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive extended-range system. Its front motor peaks at 210 kW, with the rear motor adding 100 kW, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h.

The N90 Max is equipped with six ultra-long rails, with the longest extending to 1,938 mm. Crafted from reinforced 7-series aluminum alloy, these rails offer a tensile strength 9% higher than standard versions. They deliver a locking strength of 54,000 N and a maximum peeling strength of 57,000 N. Furthermore, the rails withstood 15,000 sliding cycles in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C without any loosening.

Xiaomi founder Lei Jun announced the successful test on social media today. The company said it was pleased to partner with XCMG Group on this "heavyweight" challenge.
