Covering more than 17,000 global issuers, the MSCI framework evaluates long-term sustainability and resilience across environmental, social, and governance pillars. Key metrics include product carbon footprint, clean technology opportunities, safety and quality, labor management, and corporate governance. Ratings range from CCC to AAA.

XPENG achieved a perfect score for product carbon footprint, while also leading the industry in clean technology opportunities and labor management. S&P Global's CSA assesses roughly 13,000 companies annually across more than 1,000 data points, serving as a screening basis for global ESG indices like the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Climate strategy, product management, and corporate governance were the primary drivers behind this year's score improvement.

In 2025, XPENG outlined specific carbon targets for the first time: by 2027, it aims to cut full lifecycle carbon emissions per passenger vehicle by 9% from a 2023 baseline, while reducing operational carbon intensity at its China headquarters and manufacturing bases by 38%. Its long-term goal is achieving full lifecycle carbon neutrality for its products and net-zero operations by 2050.

On the product front, XPENG continues to advance vehicle lightweighting. In production, it collaborates with suppliers to use a "direct aluminum supply" short-process technology, while operations are seeing an increased share of clean energy. By 2025, XPENG had reduced its comprehensive product carbon footprint per vehicle by 18% against the baseline year, and lowered operational carbon intensity by 29.9%. Looking ahead, the company said it will continue to benchmark against international standards, focusing on key issues and improving disclosure quality.
