Chinese Government procurement focuses on self-brands

China Central Government Procurement Centre released the result of bid for 2007-2008 automobile procurement, in which 30 automobile companies and 47 brands were included. Self-branded models are over 60% such as Chery, Shanghai Automobile etc. Government procurement law stipulates specifically that national brands are the priorities of government procurement. And the bid documents also specified: National brands refer to those produced domestically and those of which the material comes abroad, added value over 50% and the costs of projects and services mainly come from home.

The Bid this time replaced negotiation and extended procurement period from one year to two years. In regard to the demand of automobile within non-agreements, the procurement centre will operate in the means of enquiry and competitive negotiation and others.

Only those automobile Corps with corporation status were allowed to take part in as stipulated.
