Chongqing becoming the largest natural gas vehicle base in Asia

Sources from an auto conference held in Chongqing recently said that  83.4% natural gas vehicles made in Chongqing are sold in China as well as countries in West Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia. The total sales come to 1.8 billion yuan, making Chongqing the largest natural gas auto base in Asia.

It is reported that more than 90 percent of bused and taxies in Chongqing are powered by natural gas, and the volume of natural gas vehicles come to 30,000 units. Currently Chongqing natural gas technology R&D center develops a wide range of products, covering sedan, bus and maintenance equipments, from nearly 40 natural gas vehicle enterprises like Chang'an Group and Chongqing Yutong.

Regarding complete vehicles Chongqing has already possessed nearly 30 models, including Chang'an Lingyang sedan, Chongqing Yutong bus and motorbike, of which Yutong bus take 30 percent market share in China.

Chongqing is on track to develop models mated with both diesel and natural gas engines, who are expecting a breakthrough this year.
