Geely Auto completes 66% of revised 2020 sales target as of Sept.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (called “Geely Auto” for short) and its subsidiaries sold a total of 126,365 new vehicles in September, an increase of roughly 11% from the year-ago period and up around 11% from the previous month, the company announced on October 8.

For the first three quarters, the group sold 875,472 vehicles in total, posting a 9% decline over the prior-year period and fulfilling 66% of its revised annual sales target of 1.32 million units.

Among the vehicles sold last month, 6,092 units were new energy and electrified vehicles (NEEVs), including the Geometry As, the Emgrand EV and the Emgrand GSes, a month-on-month decrease of 7.8%.

On August 7, the Geometry C, the second mass-produced and the first SUV model of Geometry, hit the market with five variants offered at one go. According to Geely Auto, the new BEV model painted with “Inspiration Purple”, the industry's first body color jointly created by an automaker and users, was launched on September 27.

The company said the group (Geely Auto and its subsidiaries)'s exports volume was up more than twofold year on year to 8,068 units in September, while its domestic sales reached 118,297 units, an increase of around 6% over the previous year.

Last month, Geely Auto sold 43,183 sedans, 79,633 SUVs and 3,549 MPVs. Notably, the sales of the Emgrand sedans reached 20,196 units in September and totaled 158,698 units for the first nine months. The Sept. combined sales of the Boyue and the Boyue PRO stood at 20,925 units.

On September 23, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding), parent company of Geely Auto, announced the launch of its Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the world's first open-source electric vehicle architecture, that aims to transform the availability of zero-emission cars and trucks in the world's largest auto markets.

Geely Holding will deploy the SEA architecture across its portfolio of nine global automotive brands which collectively sold over 2 million units in 2019. The first model to be based on the SEA architecture will be the Lynk & Co Zero Concept which was unveiled on September 23 at a Lynk & Co brand event night, and will go into production and hit the market in 2021.

During the same month, the sales volume of Lynk & Co-branded vehicles was 18,745 units, leaping around 38% year on year and achieving the brand's record high level in terms of single-month sales.
