Both parties will co-work on the R&D of AI technologies, talents development, and other businesses. Under the agreement, they will build an AI joint innovation base where Tencent Cloud will build a data center, a private cloud platform, and an AI-enabled algorithm platform.
Besides, the duo will make joint efforts to solve the world-class problems about the new energy quality inspection by leveraging Tencent YouTu Lab's technical strengths in computer vision. The endeavors are also made to help CATL improve its R&D efficiency, speed up the building of backup power battery technical capabilities, and enhance R&D level of cutting-edge AI technologies.
As a global leading lithium-ion battery developer and manufacturer, CATL is dedicated to the R&D, production and sale of new energy vehicle (NEV)-related power battery system and energy storage system. As of 2020, CATL ranked first in the world for the fourth year in a row by annual installed battery capacity.
Backed with AI algorithms from top labs like Tencent Youtu Lab, Tencent Cloud has so far offered AI technologies and services to over 1.2 billion users around the world and has partnered with over 2 million clients.
CATL said bringing such technologies as AI, big data, and cloud computing to the production of NEV-used batteries will significantly improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency, lower defect rates, ensure safety, and enhance capacity.
