Great Wall Motor Oct. sales fall 17% YoY

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s top SUV manufacturer Great Wall Motor sold 112,069 vehicles in October, representing a year-on-year decrease of 17.33%, due to the sales decline of its Haval brand and WEY brand.

By the end of October, the automaker’s cumulative sales of this year totaled 996,114 vehicles, jumping 22% from a year ago. That represented a gap of 500,000 vehicles from its 1.49 million sales target for this year, indicating that the average sales of the last two months should be about 250,000 vehicles, more than twice its October sales.

Last month, the sales of the Haval H6 amounted to 27,341 vehicles while the Haval Big Dog saw an increase of 43.4% from a year ago to 10,056 vehicles. Monthly sales of the Haval Jolion hit a new high in October with sales jumping 53.2% month over month to 8,172 vehicles.

By year-to-date sales, Haval brand achieved an increase of 11.7% from a year earlier, but WEY’s sales dropped 29.21% versus the same span of last year.

ORA is the only brand from the group to see a double-digit increase in monthly sales. The ORA Haomao’s monthly sales also achieved a new record with 7,845 sold.

Monthly sales of Great Wall Motor (GWM) Pickup had surpassed 20,000 units for 14 months. Among the 187,163 pickups sold in the first ten months of this year, 37,041 were for overseas markets, surging 159% year on year. The Poer pickup’s sales jumped 12.1% from a year ago to 12,655 vehicles last month, exceeding 10,000 units for 16 months in a row.
