BYD’s auto sales in 2021 rise 73.34% YoY thanks to NEV sales surge
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited (BYD) announced its full-year auto sales in 2021 reached 740,131 units, surging 73.34% from the previous year. Notably, new energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for 81.6% of total vehicle sales.
The remarkable growth was entirely thanks to the 218.3% surge in yearly new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, which successfully offset the 42.54% drop confronting BYD's oil-fueled vehicle business.
Of the NEVs sold last year, 593,745 units were passenger vehicles (PVs), representing a 231.6% leap from a year ago. The PHEV segment was outsold by the BEV, while it boasted a much higher year-over-year growth than that of the latter.

Regarding specific models, the sales of the BYD Han reached 13,701 units in Dec., resulting in 117,665 units in the full-year sales volume.
