JIDU to launch second production model in 2022

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On April 8th, Baidu’s JIDU disclosed that its second production model will debut at this year’s Auto Guangzhou and hit the market in 2024.

JIDU said that its first mass-production robot car is on track for its debut and will be on the market and start delivery in 2023. Aside from product development, the company is also growing in size. JIDU projected a roster of 2,500 staff members by the end of 2022. 

According to JIDU’s head of Human Resources, the company has recruited a core team of over one thousand members during the past 13 months of operation. The company has filed 227 patent applications, with 105 for technology innovations and 48 for utility models. Up to now, three of JIDU’s patent applications were approved. 

In fact, JIDU has been working a highly efficient schedule since its establishment. The auto startup completed the R&D of its intelligent driving technology in merely ten months, realizing autonomous driving functions in highway and urban road scenarios. The company has validated its production-ready L4 autonomous driving technology ahead of time. 

On February 28th, JIDU upgraded its robot car to the 2.0 version, integrating intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit software with its JET EEA and SOA.
