Changan Automobile sells 115,739 vehicles in April

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 10th, Changan Automobile released its April sales and production report with an overall monthly decline compared to a year ago.

In the fourth month of 2022, Changan Automobile sold a total of 115,739 vehicles and produced 112,639 vehicles. Compared to the previous year, the company saw a respective decline of 42.78% and 44.88%. 

During the first four months of the year, the company’s cumulative sales volume amounted to 767,232 vehicles, notching down 9.02% year over year. With 622,231 units sold, Changan Automobile’s China-branded vehicle sales accounted for 81.1% of the company’s total sales, dropping 9.63% from the year-ago period. Changan Automobile’s wholly-owned passenger vehicle sales summed up to 426,419 vehicles in the past four months, decreasing 10.36% year on year. 

Among the company-wide downturn in April sales volume, Changan Mazda posted the most significant decline. In April, the Japan-China joint venture sold 3,531 vehicles, indicating a 68.76% year-on-year plummet. From January to April, Changan Mazda’s accumulated sales volume totaled 44,548 vehicles, still 9.67% more than a year ago.

In the meantime, the company’s other jointly owned brand, Changan Ford, saw a 21.77% decrease in sales over the previous year with 12,018 vehicles sold. Changan Ford’s cumulative sales volume of the year summed up to 72,305 vehicles by the end of April, down 9.35% year over year.
