JIDU unveils more details of ROBO-01, with U-shaped steering wheel

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On the first day of June, Baidu-backed JIDU unveiled a group of posters showing partial new design details of its automotive robot, the ROBO-01, which is expected to make its debut on June 8th, at the ROBODAY event.

The ROBO-01 adopts a robotic aesthetic, with minimal but technological design language. It features a one-piece ultra-large HD screen that offers 3D immersive interactive functions. JIDU disclosed the smart cockpit possesses a faster than normal HMI responding speed. 

The steering wheel of the ROBO-01 is in a unique shape, mimicking the letter “U”, symbolizing the advanced autonomous driving capability of the car that JIDU often emphasizes.  

Meanwhile, the seats and its affiliated structure all illustrate a distinctive design in shape and angle of inclination, resembling the seats on a spacecraft. The visible ambient lights and the special arm rest accentuate the ROBO-01’s Sci-Fi theme.   

The rear end of the ROBO-01 is embedded with a progressive spoiler, taillights, and a light strip running across the back. Notably, there is also a pixel light below the light strip, representing the ROBO-01’s external AI lamp signal interactive capability.
