BYD sees H1 2022 sales rocket 162.03% YoY

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited (“BYD”) saw its monthly auto sales hit another record high of 134,036 units in June 2022, zooming up 162.74% year on year, while also growing 16.61% month on month, the company announced last Sunday.

The new vehicles sold last month were all new energy vehicles (“NEVs”) as BYD discontinued the production of oil-fueled vehicles in March this year.

Compared to the same span in 2021, BYD's NEV sales in June soared 224.02%. The blooming growth was entirely ascribed to the 233.44% year-on-year surge in the new energy passenger vehicles (“NEPV”) sales, which stood at 133,762 units.

Nevertheless, the June sales of new energy commercial vehicles fell at a two-digit rate year over year.

For the first half of 2022, BYD sold 646,399 vehicles in total, representing a 162.03% year-on-year hike. Its year-to-date NEV sales reached 641,350 units, surging 314.9% from a year earlier.

Regarding sales of its main vehicle models, the Han family recorded a sales volume of 25,439 units in June. Notably, the sales of the BYD Han DM rocketed 386% year over year.
In addition, the Tang, Song, Qin, and Yuan series saw their monthly sales reach 8,134 units, 32,077 units, 26,623 units, and 19,731 units last month respectively.

The automaker also sold 7,464 Destroyer 05 (Quzhujian 05) sedans in June, which leapt 63.8% from the previous month. Meanwhile, the sales of the Dolphin all-electric car came in at 10,376 units, jumping 61.4% from a month ago.

On June 30, BYD saw the first vehicle produced at its Hefei manufacturing base roll off the production line. The factory's first phase targets an annual car production capacity of 150,000 units, and will produce the BYD Qin PLUS DM-i and the Quzhujian 05 at the initial stage.
