Ford China deploys C-V2X system in Wuhan, Nanjing

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 26, Ford China announced that its C-V2X system has been officially deployed in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, and Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province.

Up to now, Ford’s proprietary C-V2X system reach has covered six cities in China, namely, Wuxi, Changsha, Guangzhou, Xi’an, Wuhan, and Nanjing. The system comes standard on six Ford vehicle models in China, including the new Mondeo, the new F-150 Raptor, the EVOS, the Mustang Mach-E, the Edge PLUS, and the new Explorer.

In addition to the newly implemented cities, Ford China will continue to expand the coverage of its C-V2X system in the aforesaid six cities, the company said. Ford vehicle owners in the applicable cities will be able to access their local smart transportation systems via OTA upgrades without additional hardware installed.

In terms of functions, Ford’s C-V2X system provides users with six major functions, including push notification of traffic light signals, green light optimal speed advisory, green light start reminder, red light warning, road information broadcasting, and electronic road signs. The functions can help improve the passing efficiency through intersections and minimize urban traffic congestion.

According to data from Ford, by December 2022, there are over 46,000 users registered for the Ford C-V2X system, 5,500 of which used the service. Ford provides more than 190,000 service times monthly.
