100,000th GS6 series engines rolls off line at SAIC Motor’s Zhengzhou engine plant

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Following the successful production of the 3 millionth NSE engine at SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company's Nanjing base earlier this month, the engine plant at it Zhengzhou base reached a significant milestone on July 17 with the production of the 100,000th GS6 series engine.

The GS6 series engines, in-house developed by SAIC Motor, are high-performance, fuel-efficient, all-aluminum gasoline engines that have undergone four years of R&D.

Currently, the GS6 series engines are utilized in various popular models such as the all-new Roewe RX5/eRX5, the all-new Roewe i5, as well as the all-new MG5 and the MG7. Among them, the GS62H engine, based on the heritage of SAIC Motor’s “Blue Core Power” engine genes, has achieved breakthroughs in hybrid electric architecture and configuration optimization, featuring efficient combustion systems, advanced gas exchange technology, intelligent thermal management systems, ultra-low friction, and other cutting-edge technologies. It has recently been successfully produced at the company’s engine plant in Zhengzhou city and will be first featured in a hybrid electric model set to be launched this year.

The Zhengzhou Base is SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle's third vehicle production base following the facilities in Shanghai’s Lingang and Nanjing’s Pukou, and it has been recognized as a national-level "green factory." Since the first vehicle rolled off the production line on September 27, 2017, less than 70 months have passed, and the Zhengzhou Base has achieved the milestone of 1.5 million vehicles produced, generating a production value of over 100 billion yuan.
