Dongfeng eπ brand unveils first battery-electric sedan ‘S73’

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Motor's engineering team recently steered the maiden model under the eπ brand, the S73 C+ segment sedan model, to Turpan, Xinjiang province. The journey marks the commencement of an intensive 60-day campaign where the scorching conditions will evaluate the resilience and performance of the model.

As the inaugural offering from the eπ brand, the S73 embodies the pulse of Gen Z, said the automaker. It is also the first model that rides on Dongfeng Motor's Quantum Architecture and plays a pivotal role in the company’s strategic aspirations. The S73 is poised to make its grand debut in the third quarter of 2023.

The S73 is backed by an array of formidable technologies from Dongfeng, including the robust Mach-E electric powertrain, Quantum Architecture platform, and SOA electronic-electrical architecture.

The S73 employs a cloud-based battery health management system that incessantly monitors battery conditions and offers advanced 48-hour battery safety alerts via intelligent cloud computations. The power battery system, reinforced with aerospace-grade materials, maintains cell temperature below 38°C even after enduring a scorching 6-hour bake in a 55°C environment, ensuring battery security and longevity, while obviating potential hazards.

Furthermore, the S73 harnesses Dongfeng's advanced battery thermal management technology, safeguarding battery capacity in both sweltering and frigid conditions. This innovation prolongs battery cycle life, enabling sustained high-power output, said Dongfeng. When charging under high temperatures, the S73 maintains battery temperature at a comfortable 25°C-35°C range, enabling a swift 30% to 80% charge in just 26 minutes.
