Dongfeng Automobile Company sees 4 millionth vehicle roll off production line

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On January 21, Dongfeng Automobile Company (DFAC), the light truck arm of Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor, celebrated the completion of its new assembly line in Xiangyang, Hubei Province.

Meanwhile, a white Dongfeng Captain E-Star slowly rolled off on site, signifying the official production of DFAC's 4 millionth vehicle.

In response to the evolving landscape of the automotive industry and to seize opportunities in intelligent development, DFAC deepened its collaboration with Xiangyang city in April 2022. Over a year, they jointly designed a smart, digital, and green factory, adhering to leading domestic standards. The construction included the completion of the new smart assembly line, casting factory, and the intelligent manufacturing center.

Projected milestones include the completion of the casting factory transition by March 2024, the initiation of light commercial vehicle production in October, and the commencement of new energy vehicle production in December. 

These developments are set to elevate DFAC's manufacturing, delivery, and digital operational capabilities for the "Dongfeng Light Truck" brand, reinforcing product branding, corporate system strength, and overall market competitiveness. Simultaneously, the new factory is poised to introduce six new models, forming a diverse product matrix supporting oil-fueled and electric, light truck and van, gas and hydrogen vehicle variants.
