SGMW Indonesia forays into South Asia via partnership with Browns EV
Beijing (Gasgoo)- On Aug. 28, PT SGMW Motor Indonesia (hereinafter referred to as "SGMW Indonesia"), a subsidiary of SAIC-GM-Wuling, partnered with Browns EV, the new energy vehicle arm of Browns Group, to deliver 90 units of the Wuling BinguoEV and CloudEV to their first customers in Colombo, Sri Lanka, according to SGMW's WeChat announcement on Sept.4.

The ceremony, held at Browns EV's showroom, marked an important milestone in SGMW's expansion into the South Asian market.
Kapila, Managing Director of Browns Group, said Browns EV aims to build a complete ecosystem that enables Sri Lankans to confidently embrace green mobility. By leveraging Browns Group's diversified businesses, customers will receive SGMW vehicles, as well as integrated financial, insurance, aftersales, and charging services.
Up to now, SGMW has sold over 3 million new energy vehicles globally. The company will work with Browns Group to create a comprehensive EV ecosystem in Sri Lanka, bringing affordable and high-quality green mobility solutions to local users.
Earlier in July, SGMW Indonesia signed an annual order agreement exceeding 1,000 vehicles with Browns Group during its 8th anniversary celebrations. In 2025, SGMW Indonesia plans to ramp up exports with a "product + service + technology" strategy. To date, its right-hand-drive export business spans 20 markets, with three new ones added this year.
