According to the deputy director, in 2021, the city has established the world's first advanced autonomous driving pilot zone, and has opened 1,000 kilometers of roads for autonomous driving tests, accumulating over 3 million kilometers of testing mileages. Meanwhile, the city's digital infrastructure construction entered a new stage.

In 2021, the city of Beijing initiated its Intelligent City 2.0 project, furthering the construction of the integrated software/hardware system dedicated to the vehicle-road-cloud-network-map synergy.

The city has opened up 56,400 5G base stations during the year, applying 5G+8K technologies within the entire industrial chain.

Moreover, the city has issued and implemented two schemes in the data and AI computing fields, building a supercomputing power center. Beijing's national AI innovation area project was greenlighted, with 196 companies settling in the national network security industrial park.

The building of the AI innovation area in Beijing follows the development of local industry and the government plans to enhance the utilities of AI in manufacturing, intelligent vehicles, the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, and more scenarios.
