China opens up 5,000 km roads for intelligent V2X tests

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China has opened up over 5,000 kilometers of roads for intelligent V2X pilot demonstration, a deputy director of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Guo Shougang, said on the China EV100 Forum 2022 on March 25th.

China is currently promoting the pilot work of smart city infrastructure and intelligent connected vehicle synergy. In the meantime, MIIT is also accelerating the development of road test demonstrations for intelligent and connected vehicles, the deputy director added. Up till now, China has accumulated over 10 million kilometers of safe road test mileages, which has driven the country to reconstruct and upgrade more than 3,500 kilometers of intelligent roads. 

After a string of review and field research by experts, a total of sixteen cities were selected for the smart city and intelligent V2X pilot demonstration, including Chongqing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nanjing, Jinan, Chengdu, Hefei, Cangzhou, Zibo, Wuhu, and Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, Wuxi, in two groups. 

Moreover, the construction of intelligent infrastructure is already in progress in Beijing. By the Capital city’s plan, the reformation of over 300 intersections in the 60 square kilometers of core area in Yizhuang District (E-Town) will be completed by the end of 2022. 

On the other hand, with the completion of smart infrastructure in Wuhan, the city is building a vehicle-to-city network platform.
