JIDU’s first model ROBO 01 enters pre-mass production phase

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Baidu-backed auto startup JIDU initiated the preparation process for mass production of its first model, the ROBO 01, which will make its debut at the ROBODAY to be hosted on June 8th, JIDU's CEO said on Twitter-like Weibo.

The CEO disclosed that the team has begun the auto body die molding process for JIDU’s automotive robot, officially entering the volume production phase of the ROBO 01. In order to embody the vehicle’s extreme futuristic design, the JIDU engineering team endured substantial technological challenges regarding molding techniques and achieved engineering breakthroughs on massive stamping depth. 

As JIDU previously disclosed, the ROBO 01 will be equipped with an extremely intellectualized robotic cockpit that mimics a spaceship. The vehicle will feature L4 autonomous driving capabilities in both highway and urban scenarios, moving and engaging in natural conversations freely. Building on AI and big data technologies, the ROBO 01 will have continuous self-learning and evolving capabilities. 

The ROBO 01 will start delivery in 2023. JIDU disclosed that the company has already launched the R&D and pre-research process for its following vehicle models. Its second production model is likely to be unveiled at the Auto Guangzhou at the end of the year.
